Dr. Joseph H. Lovasko

Joseph H. Lovasko, D.D.S., M.S. , is from Whiting, Indiana. He received an A.B. in Zoology from Indiana University, a D.D.S. from the Indiana University School of Dentistry, and a M.S. in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Illinois.

Dr. Lovasko completed his surgical training at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago in 1972. His first year of practice was with Dr. Peter Ferrini and Hammond Oral Surgery. Dr. Lovasko then joined the Hammond Clinic in Munster for several years, followed by 10 years of solo practice before joining Northwest Oral Surgeons in 1990. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of numerous professional organizations where he served in leadership positions. For 12 years, he was an assistant professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Illinois. Dr. Lovasko served as President of the Medical Staff of St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers, Dyer, in 1998-1999.

Dr. Lovasko’s office practice includes general anesthesia, intravenous sedation and local anesthesia for dental extractions, biopsies, removal of impacted teeth and other oral surgical procedures. He has an active hospital practice for management of the medically-compromised patients, treatment of facial trauma, corrective jaw surgery for jaw deformities and has a particular interest and considerable experience in temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthroscopic surgery for managing severe TMJ disorders not responsive to simpler therapy.

Dr. Lovasko is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Indiana, Illinois and Chicago societies of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, a fellow of the International College of Dentists and is Board-certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
