stands for cone-beam computed tomography. CBCT is similar to a "CAT scan" that you might get at a hospital. Northwest Oral Surgeons
has a CBCT scanner in our office so that patients can be scanned on site. This scan takes about 15 seconds and is very similar to a panoramic x-ray.
The advantages of CBCT includes greatly reduced x-ray exposure (compared to conventional CT) and three-dimensional views of the jaws and facial structures.
Northwest Oral Surgeons uses CBCT scans to diagnose difficult problems of the jaws and face and in planning large implmant reconstruction cases.
